FutureQuake Press. Small Press publisher.
The first strip I had published in the small press was called ‘Projections’ and appeared in FutureQuake #20. You can find it listed here; http://www.futurequake.co.uk/issue.php?title=FutureQuake&issue=20
Since then it has appeared in 100% Biodegradable #7.
It is a good strip, which I am still incredibly proud of. The artist; S K Moore, did an absolutely terrific job.
While I am usually hesitant to upload strips which have been made available through publications, ‘Projections’ is available free to view through the artist’s website.
So, here I present it to you, dear reader, for your enjoyment;
Projections, Page One.
Projections, Page Two.
Projections, Page Three.
Millarworld is the personal imprint of writer; Mark Millar.
A new Talent Search recently launched is the Millarworld 2016 Annual. This Talent Search is being run by Scottish writer; Mark Millar, and is based on his creator owned characters.
Here is an article announcing the Talent Search on Newsarama; http://www.newsarama.com/26068-mark-millar-launches-talent-search-for-2016-annual.html
The Talent Search is open to new writers and artists. You can find submissions instructions here; http://forums.millarworld.tv/t/millarworld-annual-submission-instructions/1941
The individual thread for writers is here; http://forums.millarworld.tv/t/millarworld-annual-writer-submission-guidelines/1485 and the one for artists is here; http://forums.millarworld.tv/t/millarworld-annual-artist-submission-guidelines/1484
The submission must focus on specific Millarworld characters and each type of submission has a set page limit. These are…
KICK-ASS story set between Bks 1-3 (5 pages)
KINGSMAN story starring Eggsy/Gary (5 pages)
HIT-GIRL solo adventure (4 pages)
STARLIGHT starring Young Duke McQueen on Tantalus (5 pages)
AMERICAN JESUS set during first book (5 pages)
CHRONONAUTS set in the past, during first book (4 pages)
Each of these titles are now available as trade paper backs which should make researching them simple.
You must state which title you are pitching for in the subject line of your e-mail, you should include a two sentence synopsis in the the body of your e-mail and your details as well (name, Millarworld board name, address and contact phone number).
Six writers and six artists will be chosen (one for each category). You can only make a single submission, so make it count.
The Talent Search is running from the 28th of September to the 30th of November 2015.
Top Cow Productions is a partner studio in Image Comics.
The Top Cow Talent Hunt is now live, with folk like the excellent Ryan Cady answering questions on the new official thread.
You can find the official thread for 2016 here; http://community.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?56132-OFFICIAL-Top-Cow-Talent-Hunt-2016-Discussion-Thread
Also, if you are curious about last year’s thread, you can still find the one for 2015 here; http://community.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?21637-OFFICIAL-Top-Cow-Talent-Hunt-2015-Discussion-Thread
I would encourage both aspiring writers and artists to take part in the Talent Hunt. There is also a wonderful sense of community spirit on the message boards, so if you are participating, I would also encourage you to post and connect with your peers online.
Good luck to all of you.
